April 25 - May 1:
It was a busy week, with little time for viewing, but we did manage to make time for Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Hawaii Five-O.
April 18 - April 24:
Strait-Jacket (1964)
Joan Crawford, Diane Baker
After spending 20 years in an asylum for axe murdering her husband and the woman she found him in bed with, Lucy (Joan) is out and trying to resume a normal life, which is a little hard with someone axe murdering people and trying to pin it on her.
Modern Girls (1986)
Daphne Zuniga, Cynthia Gibb, Virginia Madsen
We hadn't planned to watch this, but it came on and we sat all the way through it, since I hadn't seen it in about 23 years. The loose plot involves three roommates and a night out on the town, trying to find the singer who falls for one of them, but was separated from her when the club they were in was raided. I loved that it was set in downtown LA and at one point they found themselves in a tropical bar. Goofy fun.
April 11 - April 17:
Due to late work nights, only TV (much of it of the classic variety, fortunately) was viewed in the Velveteen Lounge Theater, but a couple of movies were screened in the Velveteen Lounge Sewing Theater, including 1982's Tootsie and 1983's Flashdance. I have to say, again, how much I love having a DVD player next to my sewing machine. They go together like peanut butter and jelly!
April 4 - April 10:
This was a week where it felt like the bad news just kept coming, so there wasn't a lot of time or energy for entertainment. However, we did watch a lot of The Smoking Gun Presents World's Dumbest, plus episodes of Man from U.N.C.L.E., Hawaii Five-O and CHiPs.
