November 30 - December 6:

Watched this week: Not much. Better luck next week!

November 23 - November 29:

It was deja vu at the Velveteen Lounge Holiday Theater this week, as we watched Thin Man AND Christmas Vacation AGAIN! You can never get enough of the classics! We also watched A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All! twice. Anything worth doing is worth doing more than once!

November 16 - November 22:

A Christmas Story (1983)
Peter Billingsley, Melinda Dillon, Darren McGavin
Another Lounge holiday favorite. I've written about it before and not doubt you've seen it 50 times. It's still a toss-up between the Chinese restaurant scene and the "Oh, fudge" sequence for my favorite bits, but this year I'm also loving the Old Man cursing while fixing the furnace and at the Bumpus hounds.

November 9 - November 15:

Love at First Bite (1979)
George Hamilton, Susan Saint James
Another old VHS tape I didn't even know we owned, which I found when looking through piles of stuff in the attic. Believe it or not, I'd never seen this movie before, but thought it was hilarious. All of the stars were great and it had both Sherman Hemsley and Isabel Sanford in cameos!

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo
A perennial Lounge holiday favorite, I'm sure we'll watch this at least one more time before Christmas. It feels a little odd that we're starting early this year with the holiday movies and festivities, but Thanksgiving is late this year and I'm afraid of running out of time if we don't.

November 2 - November 8:

The Women (1939)
Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell
We've been going through our old, neglected VHS tapes and pulling out some favorites we haven't seen for a while and this is one of them. Even though the end is overrought, this film is filled with classic lines and hilarious characters and the color fashion show sequence is pure eye candy. I haven't seen the remake, but I'm positive it pales in comparison to the original.

It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
James Stewart, Donna Reed
We've started the holiday viewing early this year because I never seem to get time to see and do everything I want to do over the holidays and it's frustrating. If you find yourself frustrated by the petty BS in your life, this film is the perfect antidote. A nice reminder that living a good life is what it's all about.
