March 28 - April 2:
Viewed this week in the Velveteen Lounge Sewing Theater: Blue Gardenia, a 1953 film noir potboiler starring Anne Baxter, who can't remember, but thinks she drunkenly killed Raymond Burr (who had it coming) after getting loaded in, yes, a tiki bar! Title song sung by Nat King Cole, wearing a suit and lei. Also viewed was Anything But Love, a perennial Lounge favorite from 2003 about a cabaret singer who comes into her own after running away from the altar.
March 21 - March 27:
Viewed (or mostly heard) on the TV by my sewing machine (what I now think of as the Velveteen Lounge Sewing Theater), most of Birdman of Alcatraz (1962, Burt Lancaster) and the always fun Star of Midnight, (1935, William Powell and Ginger Rogers), both courtesy of TCM.
February 28 - March 20:
We've been keeping up the classic TV nights, particularly with Man from U.N.C.L.E., Hawaii Five-O, That Girl and Get Smart. However, Paul also hooked up a DVD player right beside my sewing table, so I can watch movies while I work! This week I indulged in my favorite 1983 trashfest, Stayin' Alive, arguably one of the worst films about Broadway theater ever made. I love it!
February 21 - February 27:
It's a darn good thing we didn't have big plans this past week, because they would have been scotched, due to weather. As predicted, the classic TV was watched in abundance, including Man from U.N.C.L.E. on Monday, Hawaii Five-O, which I've heard they're remaking, which seems pointless to say the very least, since the original is perfect, Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Mission: Impossible and more!
February 14 - February 20:
We've declared Mondays "Man from U.N.C.L.E. Night" here at the Lounge, so we watched that, plus we polished off season one of Hawaii Five-O. Good thing we have season two, ready for watching!
February 7 - February 13:
The Owl and the Pussycat (1970)
Barbra Streisand, George Segal
I have to hand it to Felix (George Segal) in this film, because Doris (Barbra Streisand) was so annoying I would have killed her within the first fifteen minutes. Fortunately her grating personality became slightly endearing by the end, because I was compelled to sit through it just for the costume and set design.
