It's a tradition to watch this favorite here at the Lounge to ring in the new year, since that's when the action takes place. We never tire of it!
A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
Paul got several gift cards for Christmas and he purchased this with one of them. It was fun to see, since I don't think I'd seen it since I was about 10!
December 20 - December 26:
This was a visiting week and not a watching week, but we did manage to see the Blackadder version of A Christmas Carol at Kristy and Geoff's, which remains hilarious, and The Smoking Gun Presents World's Dumbest Holidays, which was truly special.
December 13 - December 19:
Christmas in Connecticut (1945)
Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet
I've written about this holiday favorite before, so I won't repeat myself, except to say that it's fun and hilarious and bears viewing every year. I just learned it's being remade again, which grosses me out. It will never, EVER be as good as the original, not that I'll be seeing it to make the comparison.
December 6 - December 12:
Holiday Affair (1949)
Robert Mitchum, Janet Leigh
Mystery shopper Connie (Leigh) inadvertently gets toy department employee Steve (Mitchum) fired from his retail job right before Christmas and their subsequent hot-dogs-in-Central-Park lunch is the start of a new life for both of them (after many mishaps, of course). I loved this movie! It had enough pathos to pull you in, but was still fun.
