Sitting Pretty (1948)

A timeless story about how gossip and innuendo get folks into trouble and the cinematic debut of Mr. Belvedere. I love this film, not only because the message is still relevant 60 years after its release, but also because it's hilarious.
June 22 - June 28:
The Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow (1959)
Jody Fair, Russ Bender
An utterly banal low-budget tale of teens in a destitute car club, who turn to a family friend of one of the members, who has offered them her haunted house as their headquarters. I loved this movie not in spite of its listless nature, but because of it. Even the thugs are half-hearted in their threats. The spooks don't appear until the last 15 minutes or so and the ghost doesn't show up until practically the closing credits. It's a great example of a late-'50s exploitation flick--so-so quality and a razor-thin plot. It's a genre I love!
June 8 - June 22:
With Hukilau and being really busy after we got back, we just haven't had time to watch any movies. However, I did have TCM on the other day while I was sewing and saw a good chunk of the Elvis and Shelley Fabares ditty, Girl Happy. I need to buy this DVD ASAP, since it features a brawl in a Florida tiki bar--just perfect after returning from Fort Lauderdale and the Mai-Kai!
June 1 - June 7:
Air Bud (1997)
Kevin Zegers, Wendy Makkena
I had this on while sewing the other night and I just can't resist movies about adorable and talented animals. In this one you could swear the dog was acting. An abandoned dog befriends a lonely boy and they both become basketball stars, despite the dog's evil former owner's attempt to reclaim him after he becomes a star.
