December 19 - December 25:
We're just about caught up on our holiday viewing. I managed to catch Holiday Affair and It Happened on Fifth Avenue before we left town.
December 12 - December 18:
Viewed this week: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Story and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Not bad for being out several nights!
December 5 - December 11:
The week was pretty much given over to party prep, but I did manage to catch most of one of my favorites, A Diva's Christmas Carol (I have it on video, so I can see the whole thing when I have time), as well as a show featuring celebrity holiday homes (anything to do with decorating for the holidays is okay with me).
November 28 - December 4:
Lots of holiday viewing happened last week, including The Jack Benny Program (one of our favorite holiday traditions), A Charlie Brown Christmas and a Christmas episode of Man from U.N.C.L.E..
November 21 - November 27:
We actually DID manage to watch Christmas Vacation and the Thanksgiving World's Dumbest Criminals marathon, so mission accomplished!
November 14 - November 20:
Desk Set (1957)
Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn
Holiday hijinx at a broadcasting company from the days when corporations really knew how to throw a Christmas party.
November 7 - November 13:
It was a crazy week and almost no viewing happened, aside from World's Dumbest. Next week will be much less hectic!
October 31 - November 6:
Eegah (1962)
Richard Kiel, Arch Hall, Jr.
A friend gave us this film and, if I'd known how much I'd love it, I would have watched it ages ago! A prehistoric giant develops a crush on a teenaged girl after running in front of her car on a desert highway one night and scaring the beejezus out of her. Her father ventures into the desert to investigate and is captured by said giant, so it's up to the girl and her doofus musician boyfriend to save the day. I loved everything about this movie, from the gratuitous rock songs performed by the boyfriend to the mid-century Palm Springs style to the fact that, just when you think it's over, there's another half hour of pointless plot.
The Crawling Hand (1963)
Rod Lauren, Peter Breck
Still in the Halloween spirit, we watched this perennial Lounge favorite, featuring a scientist blown up in space, whose arm lives to terrorize a small California town. Features Alan "Skipper" Hale as the sheriff and The Rivingtons' "The Bird's the Word" seemingly over and over again on the soundtrack.
