I am so pleased with my new burger recipe, which is actually a mash up of two recipes. I've dubbed them Aloha Kitsch Burgers:

One of the recipes I used is from a book called Retro Beach Bash. That's where I got the spices and flavorings (soy sauce, sherry, lime juice, onion powder, garlic, ginger, salt and pepper), although I added bread crumbs and messed with the proportions. But that was just a jumping off point. I added a slice each of pineapple and bacon, which I sealed inside each burger, the idea for which came from Ideas for Homemakers, a Dole pineapple cookbook from the 1930s. The burgers are amazing and I want to serve them at our party later this summer, although we will have them often before that time!
