It was an exciting week in the Velveteen Lounge Kitsch-en! Not only did Paul smoke and grill what I'm pretty sure are the best ribs I've ever had for Mother's Day, but we hosted the first of what we hope will be many intimate dinner parties!

This is me, posing with my appetizers. We started with water chestnuts wrapped in bacon, sliced fruit with Kahlua and cinnamon dip, shrimp and more. Our main course was sweet-and-sour chicken, which I actually cooked on Thursday and which kept great until Saturday, "Tropical Rice" and a salad with sesame ginger vinaigrette dressing. Dessert was "Pineapple Ambrosia Pie," which I made ahead and was really easy and really good. Paul tended bar and did a great job, as always. Let us know when you'll be in town and we'll invite you to our next dinner party!
