I'm not going to lie. There has been a lot of upsetting stuff going on lately, which has been really hard on us emotionally. Thank heavens the bad things seem to draw us closer and we don't take them out on each other. One way I have of coping is cooking, which is a creative activity that relaxes me and gives me a sense of accomplishment later. I made lots of things this week that came out really well, including crab cakes for happy hour and a Saturday meal with three recipes from Beachbum Berry's book Taboo Table:

The crab cakes were really easy and tasty. You make them in muffin pans and I was glad I decided to use muffin cups. Truthfully, the Taboo Table recipes were easy, too, and were the perfect choice to go with tropical beverages. I made Ginger Chicken Wings, Pake Noodles and Bongo Bongo Soup and was able to use my new immersion blender, which I love, while making the soup. All in all, it was a good cooking week, even if some other things sucked.
