
One chapter in the history of kitsch food that is largely lost to history is the fact that folks used to make their own Chex mix at home. They didn't buy it pre-seasoned and bagged, like you can now. I decided to take it upon myself to create a tropical Chex mix, suitable for tiki room snacking:

Some of the ingredients are obvious from looking: Chex cereal (I used Rice Chex), salted almonds, banana chips and shredded coconut. But there are two secret ingredients, which I'll be unveiling soon. In the meantime, I can tell you this: it's good!
