Here I am in Cancun, posing with a little something I whipped up for happy hour, Freak Show Nachos:



I didn't give them that name, but I think it's pretty appropriate, given the ingredients. I wanted to use up the food props we'd bought for our next "Velveteen Lounge Kitsch-en" episode (Vienna sausages and squeeze bottle cheese), so I figured heating and mashing the Vienna sausages, putting the mash on top of tortilla chips, drowning it in squeezy cheese (which was actually pretty good--spicy, with jalapeno peppers) and burying it in fresh pico de gallo would do the trick and it did. Those nachos disappeared! There may be foods out there that can't be improved with cheese and pico de gallo, but not many!
