Snow day baking: chocolate cupcakes with purple buttercream frosting:



There were no cake mixes involved here. Both the cupcakes and the frosting are from scratch, since it's really no more difficult to make these things from scratch than to use a cake mix or canned frosting. Don't you think I need one of those cupcake trees? Anyway, the great thing about white frosting, or any light-colored food, is that you can tint it any color you want. I was feeling purple on Wednesday. Never forget food coloring when you need a quick, fun fix for baked goods.
