Don't worry, family, this isn't a preview of our Thanksgiving dinner! It does, however, crack me up, so I had to share it.

Doesn't the sliced turkey on that yellow box look diseased? These convenience products were purchased for an upcoming creative project. Our Thanksgiving dinner will consist of pretty much the same things we make from scratch every year (I'm on pies and sides, Paul deals with the turkey and cranberry sauce), but it does make me chuckle to think how easily the low road could be taken. One of my early New York Thanksgivings was spent with a friend who thought she had it all planned out. She was a vegetarian and had found what she figured was the perfect place for us to have dinner. However, she hadn't checked the price, and the prix fixe was a bit too much for two struggling actresses, so we ended up at a diner, followed by pints of Ben & Jerry's in her apartment. Not a traditional Thanksgiving, but we had fun. As we head into the holiday season, I hope hosts will remember that it's about good times with friends and family. Chances are you'll do more than open a box, but be sure to not work too hard and to enjoy every minute!
