I got the bright idea on the train recently to try infusing cheap vodka with common candies to see what the results would be like. We finally did it this week and at our summer party we played Guess the Infusion!



As you have no doubt gathered, the first infusion was Skittles, which looked completely disgusting when we first made it. We strained it through a nylon bag, which made it look slightly less disgusting, and some people really liked it! The second, which you can also see pictured here, was Mike & Ike Tropical Typhoon candies. Those were too soft to pulverize to a powder, so I sliced them in half and let them soak overnight in the vodka. By the next morning the candies had lost their color and I strained them out. Most people guessed "pear" for that flavor, which must be what all fruits together taste like. The last infusion, which is not pictured here, was Lemonheads. It was very lemony, so most people came close and one guessed it correctly. The big tip off with that one was the bright yellow color--exactly like the candy. All in all it was very fun and I'm thinking of things to infuse next!
